Welcome to Ranchi City  Ranchi (/ ˈrɑːntʃi / (audio speaker), Hindi: [ˈrãːtʃiː]) is the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. Ranchi was the center of the Jharkhand movement,  which required a separate tribal region of South Bihar, north of Orissa, west of West Bengal and a region east of present-day Chhattisgarh. Jharkhand District was established on 15 November 2000 by recording the Bihar stages of Chota Nagpur and Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Narendra Modi's CEO Smart Cities Mission. In British times, the city was the summer capital of Bihar, due to its mild climate during the winter. Ranchi is also one of the oldest cities in Jharkhand. Welcome to Jharkhand This region has been inhabited since the Stone Age. [1] Chalcolithic bronze tools have been found. This area dates back to the Iron Age during the second millennium BCE. The region came under the control of the Maurya Empire and later (17th century) was conquered by the Mughal kings Akbar. With the decline of Mughal, the region came under the domination of local rulers from Chero caste and others, before being conquered by the British East India Company in the late 18th century, followed by the British Raj from the middle of the 19th century. . By this time the territory was covered by nine major circuits. Under the Raj, until 1905, the region fell within the Presidency of Bengal, most of which were then transferred to the central provinces and to the Orissa Tributary States; and in 1936 the entire region was assigned to the Eastern States Agency.  MUMBAI: Equity benchmark sensex rose by 400 points in the opening session on Wednesday, following gains in IT and stocks, amid a tightening trend in global markets. The BSE gauge traded at 413.19 points or 0.71 percentage points higher than the 58,221.77 trading at the initial trade. Similarly, Nifty improved by 118 points or 0.68 percent to 17,384.75. Tech Mahindra won the mix in the sensex pack, up 2.13 percent, followed by Wipro, HCL Tech, Titan, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti and Bajaj Finance.
